Because of Rex Couture's comments about the difficulty of creating applications
with BlackBox I thought it might be useful to start a discussion of what
people have done with BlackBox on a commercial scale.
Here is my contribution.
Over the years 2008 to 2014, I have had a few jobs using oDesk,
a job finding company in Menlo Park, CA not far from me. All
of the jobs were desktop applications that did not care what language in
which the program was written. All of them wanted .exe with the exception
of "Eye tracking" which wanted a .dll. As you can see from the list below
there is a wide diversity of needs!
Code: Select all
Job $ Description
Ball 30 Physics of ball rolling down a ramp with friction
Math 85 Implicit solution of a math problem
Typing 90 Timing of a user's typing.
Eye 110 Bouncing ball for eye doctor to watch patients eye movements
Glucose 250 Interpolation of measured glucose levels
Dice 350 Probabilities of different dice throws
Fetal 562 Fetal monitor strip chart control
Eye tracking 615 Smoothing webcam eye tracking movements
Pronunciation 1200 Correcting non-native speakers pronunciation
Discovery 7650 Biofeedback from hand held probes.
you can find desktop ones. To broaden our scope we would need to move to a web development
environment.

Doug Danforth
